Do you believe in GOD?      John 5:16-30

DAY 1
Cassie Berhall were asked, "Do you believe in God?"  during the shooting
event in Columbine High School.  She answered, "Yes, I believe in God."
Then, the shooter asked her, "Why?" followed by the horrifying sound of
a gun.  Cassie is not the only one that were asked such a question. The
shooter also asked Rachel Scott if she believed in God prior to shooting her.

If you were asked, "Do you believe in God?", then how would you answer
that question?  "Do you believe in God?"  That's one question that each
person has to have an answer to.

Each one of use will deal with the reality of death, then life after
death, then the question on eternity.  Somehow in each of man's heart
there is a great "suspicion" about eternity.  Somehow we always feel
like life do not end at DEATH.  Somehow, deep down in our heart, we feel
like that there is life after death.  Somehow, we know that there is
eternity.  Now, the question is "How will we spend eternity?"   Somehow,
we also know that how we spend eternity based on some kind of JUDGEMENT
upon how we conduct our lives here on earth.  People in United States,
people in India, people in the deepest part of the Irian Jaya, people
everywhere, all of them somehow knows that there is ETERNITY and there
is JUDGEMENT.  God has put that knowledge in each man's heart.  He put
it there, so that man knows that he has to search for the answers to
those very important questions.

Now, how about you?  Do you know how you will spend eternity?  Do you
know whether you will pass the final and ultimate judgement?  Do you
sometimes wonder if you'll ever find and get the answer?  No matter how
many times we want to get rid of that question, there is a voice in our
heart that keep reminding us that we have to DEAL with this issue.

DAY 2 - The JUDGEMENT
Do you know how you will spend eternity?  Do you know whether you will
pass the final and ultimate judgement?  Do you sometimes wonder if
you'll ever find and get the answer?  No matter how many times we want
to get rid of that question, there is a voice in our hearts that keep
reminding us that we have to DEAL with this issue.

Everybody will face judgement.  There are three things about judgement
that we are going to learn this week: the judgement itself, the judge
and the result of judgement.  Today we are going to learn about
judgement.  There are two types of judgement:

a. The Judgement Seat of Christ.  This is a judgement for all
believers.  The purpose of this judgement is to evaluate and reward each
believer according to his good and bad works.  Believers were saved into
good works.  SALVATION is always by GRACE, but JUDGEMENT is always by
WORKS.  Based on the good works, each believer got his/her rewards.

b. The Great White Throne Judgement.  This is a judgement for
unbelievers.  The purpose of this judgement is to determine whether
someone will spend eternity in hell or in heaven.  Rev 20:11-15, "Then I
saw a great white throne ... and I saw the dead, great, and small,
standing before the throne, and books were opened.  Another book was
opened, which is the book of life.  ... If anyone's name was not found
written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire."  Only
believers will have the name written in the book of life.  Therefore,
all unbelievers will be thrown into the lake of fire (i.e., HELL)

The fact that each man has a conscience about good and bad, right and
wrong suggests that there is a Holy God and it also suggests that a holy
life is demanded/required.  God has put this knowledge in each man's heart.

When the ultimate judgement day comes and the book of life was opened,
do you think you will find your name there?  If you are not sure, then
this is the time to be talk to fellow Christians, to pray and to ask
Jesus to be your Savior.  The time is now, or it maybe too late.

DAY 3 - The JUDGE (Part I)
When the judgement day comes, who is going to be the JUDGE?  Let us look
at the following verses about the JUDGE.

a. John 5:22-23 "Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted
all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son just as they honor
the Father.  He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him."
This verse states that Jesus Christ the Son will be the judge, because
God has entrusted that task to him.

b. Acts 10:42 "He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify
that he (Jesus) is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead."
Again, in this verse God the Father says that he appointed Jesus to be
the judge.

c. Acts 17:30-31 "In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he
commands all people everywhere to repent.  For he has set a day when he
will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed.  He has
given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead."
Finally, God the Father set a day for judgment and the judge is the one
that he raised from the dead, which is Jesus Christ.

So, our judge is Jesus Christ Himself.  Who is more worthy than Him to
be the judge?  All is will be PARTED in Christ or PUNISH in hell.  He is
our Savior, our Deliverer, our Redeemer and He is our Judge.

DAY 4 - The JUDGE (Part II)
So, our judge is Jesus Christ Himself.  Who is more worthy than Him to
be the judge?  All is will be PARTED in Christ or PUNISH in hell.  He is
our Savior, our Deliverer, our Redeemer and He is our Judge.

So who is Jesus Christ anyway?  Certainly, we have an idea on who Jesus
Christ is, but let us be reminded on who He is.  Rev 1: 17-18 states who
Jesus Christ is according to He Himself, "I am the First and the Last.
I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and
ever.  And I hold the keys of death and Hades."

Are you ready to face Jesus Christ as our JUDGE?  "He looked like a son
of man, dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden
sash around his chest.  His head and hair were white like wool, as white
as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire.  His feet were like bronze
glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing
waters.  In his right hand he held seven starts, and out of his mouth
came a sharp double-edged sword.  His face was like the sun shining in
all its brilliance."  Rev 1: 13-16

Are you ready to face Jesus Christ as our JUDGE?  "Then, I saw a great
white throne and Him (Jesus Christ) who was seated on it.  Earth and sky
fled from His presence, and there was no place for them.  And I saw the
dead, great and small, standing before the throne and books were
opened."  Rev 20:11-13.

Are you ready to face Jesus Christ as our JUDGE?

DAY 5 - FINAL RESULT of JUDGMENT
What is the final result of judgment?  Each man is born, then lead a
life on earth, then died.  There is no one person that will not die.
Every person will eventually die.  Then, what happens after death?  This
is the one-million-dollar question.

There are two possibilities.  Every dead people will be resurrected.
Some will be resurrected into LIFE and some will be resurrected into
CONDEMNATION.

Some are resurrected into LIFE.  "I saw the souls of those who had been
beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the word of
God. ... They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years."
Rev 20:4-6.

Some are resurrected into condemnation.  "And I saw the dead, great and
small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. ... The sea
gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead
that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had
done.  Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire.  Thelake
of fire is the second death.  If anyone's name was not found written in
the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire."  Rev 20:11-15.

Now, back to the main question, "Do you believe in Jesus Christ?"
Cassie Berhall and Rachel Scott said that they believed in God.  They
are dead, yet they'll be resurrected into life.  Their lives were cut
short, yet both of can give the following testimony:
"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor
demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither
height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to
separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Romans 8:38-39.

So, "Do you believe in Jesus Christ?"  "For God so loved the world that
he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not
perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send his Son into the
world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.  Whoever
believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands
condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one
and only Son."  John 3:16-18.

"Do you believe in Jesus Christ?"  Only if you do, then you'll be
resurrected into LIFE, otherwise you'll be resurrected into
condemnation.
